Jake bates last-second field goal lifts lions to 26-23 comeback win over texans despite goff five interceptions.

Jake Bates nailed a 52-yard field goal as time expired, propelling the Detroit Lions to a dramatic 26-23 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday night. Despite a challenging game in which quarterback Jared Goff threw a career-high five interceptions, the Lions rallied from a 23-7 halftime deficit to secure their seventh straight win and improve to 8-1 for the first time since 1954.

After struggling in the first half with three interceptions and adding two more in the third quarter, Goff and the Lions managed to score 16 consecutive points. Bates’ 58-yard field goal tied the game with about five minutes remaining. Although the Texans had an opportunity to retake the lead, Ka’imi Fairbairn missed a 58-yard attempt with under two minutes left.

With the win, Detroit became the first NFL team to secure a victory despite throwing five or more interceptions since the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Arizona Cardinals in 2012 when Matt Ryan also threw five picks.
