Saudi Fast-Food Chain Al Baik Set to Enter Pakistan’s Market

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced on Saturday that Saudi Arabia’s famous fast-food chain, Al Baik, is preparing to enter the Pakistani market soon. He highlighted that Saudi investments in Pakistan are on the rise, with agreements between the two nations exceeding $6 billion. In addition to Al Baik’s upcoming arrival, Tarar revealed that Aramco has opened its first fuel station in Pakistan, further solidifying the growing Saudi presence in the country.

The minister also shared encouraging news about Pakistan’s improving global economic standing, noting that foreign investments from allied countries are increasing. Qatar is set to invest $3 billion, while Azerbaijan plans to contribute $2 billion. Additionally, Pakistan has signed a port development agreement with officials from Abu Dhabi. Tarar emphasized that these investments, coupled with rising foreign reserves and remittances, will help boost Pakistan’s economic growth. Foreign reserves now stand at $11 billion, and remittances have reached $8 billion, significantly benefiting the national economy and creating job opportunities.

Al Baik’s entry into Pakistan comes as part of the company’s global expansion plans. The Saudi fast-food chain, known for its signature broast chicken, has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Pakistan’s Gas and Oil Pakistan Ltd (GO) to launch and operate its outlets across the country. The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Saudi Minister of Investment, Engineer Khalid Al-Falih, and senior representatives from both nations.

Founded in 1974 in Jeddah, Al Baik has earned a loyal following, especially among Pakistani expatriates and visitors to Saudi Arabia. With over 120 outlets across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and other regions, the chain is well-recognized for its quality food. GO, a significant player in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector, is backed by Saudi Aramco, holding a 40% stake in the company, which strengthens its role as a key partner in Al Baik’s expansion into Pakistan.

The arrival of Al Baik in Pakistan marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral economic ties and will bring a popular international brand to the local food market.
