Senator Qasim Ronjho, a dissident member of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal), has resigned from the Senate. On Tuesday, Ronjho submitted his resignation to the Senate secretary.
Previously serving as the parliamentary leader of BNP-Mengal in the Senate, Ronjho’s resignation comes after party leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal requested both Ronjho and Senator Naseema Ehsan to step down. The two senators had crossed party lines to support the 26th constitutional amendment, prompting the call for their resignations.
