Punjab government launches ‘chief minister Insulin for all’ program to support diabetic children.

The Punjab government has officially announced the launch of the ‘Chief Minister Insulin for All’ program, aimed at providing essential insulin support to children with Type-1 diabetes. The program received approval during a special session led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

As part of the initiative, Basic Health Units (BHUs) have been upgraded to Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics to enhance healthcare services in remote areas. Additionally, performance indicators (PIs) will be established to assess the effectiveness of health staff.

The government has also approved the establishment of health laboratories in hospitals located in Mianwali, Jhelum, Jhang, Layyah, and Attock.

Under the new program, insulin will be delivered directly to the homes of children diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes, and special cards will be issued to ensure insulin availability. Approved companies, including Coldchain, will supply insulin following standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The pilot phase of the ‘Chief Minister Insulin for All’ program will be launched in three districts, including Lahore. Families with children suffering from Type-1 diabetes can apply for the program through a dedicated app or helpline.

The session was attended by several key officials, including Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bokhari, MPA Sania Ashiq, and Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, among others.
