Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced on Sunday that he will not be attending the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, following medical advice to avoid long-haul flights for the time being.
In an official statement from the presidential palace, it was confirmed that Lula will participate in the meeting via video conference. The BRICS group, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has recently expanded to welcome Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates into its fold.
