The Punjab government has approved the launch of the “Chief Minister Insulin for All” program, following a special session chaired by Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz. The initiative aims to provide insulin to children with Type-1 diabetes, delivered directly to their homes.
As part of the program, Basic Health Units (BHU) across the province have been upgraded to Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics, offering enhanced healthcare services in remote areas. The government also directed the creation of performance indicators (PIs) to assess the efficiency of health staff.
Additionally, health labs will be established in hospitals in Mianwali, Jhelum, Jhang, Layyah, and Attock. Special cards will be distributed to diabetic children to ensure a steady supply of insulin, provided by government-approved companies like Coldchain, according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The pilot phase of the Chief Minister Insulin for All program will begin in three districts, including Lahore. Families of children with Type-1 diabetes can apply for the program through a dedicated app or helpline.
Notable attendees of the session included Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bokhari, MPA Sania Ashiq, and other health and finance officials.
