DIG Operations Faisal Kamran clarified that no formal complaint has been filed regarding the alleged incident involving a private college student, dismissing it as a “concocted story.” Speaking on a news channel program on Wednesday night, he stated that the rumor, which circulated on social media on October 10, had no factual basis.
According to Kamran, when police contacted the college administration on Saturday, they were unaware of any such incident. The security guard, accused in the rumor, was found to be on leave in his hometown of Sargodha. Upon interrogation, the guard denied any knowledge of the alleged event.
The DIG confirmed that no victim has been identified, and police investigations, including checks at public and private hospitals, yielded no results. “We found no victim, nor did any students report such an incident,” Kamran added.
He further stated that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is investigating the origins of the social media posts that spread the rumor. Additionally, petrol bombs were reportedly recovered from students, and several motorcycles were set ablaze. The DIG suggested that the protests were incited by outsiders rather than the students themselves.
Kamran concluded by mentioning that video evidence has been sent for forensic analysis, and those responsible will be held accountable.
