The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, starting Thursday in the United Arab Emirates, will be the first ICC event to feature the use of Smart Replay technology. Previously employed in tournaments like The Hundred and IPL 2024, this system enhances umpire decision-making with the help of 28 cameras covering each match.
For stumpings, the Smart Replay system will present footage from three different angles—side-on and front-on—within a single frame. Unlike the previous stump cam that captured at 50 frames per second (FPS), the new Hawk-Eye cameras will capture footage at around 300 FPS, providing umpires with highly accurate visuals for better decisions.
