The Pakistani drama Barzakh, starring Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, has been nominated for Best Drama Series at the 2024 Asian Academy Creative Awards. Directed by Asim Abbasi, the show premiered on Zindagi’s YouTube and ZEE5 on July 19.
Barzakh, meaning “Limboland,” tells the story of a 76-year-old man who shocks his estranged family by announcing his engagement to the ghost of his first love, leading to emotional confrontations. Set in the stunning Hunza Valley, the series explores themes of love, loss, and family dynamics.
Produced by Shailja Kejriwal and Waqas Hassan, the show will compete against entries from 13 countries at the awards gala in December in Singapore. Abbasi expressed gratitude for the nomination, praising the cast and crew for their hard work.
Kejriwal also shared her pride in the team’s recognition, thanking the global audience for their support. The series features a talented cast, including Muhammad Fawad Khan, Salman Shahid, and Khushhal Khan.
