Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 102 as Bangladesh reached 205-6 by lunch on day four of the rain-hit second Test against India in Kanpur on Monday. His impressive innings featured 16 boundaries and a six, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz accompanying him on six.
Resuming on 107-3 after two days lost to rain and a wet outfield, Bangladesh’s top order collapsed early, setting the match on course for a likely draw. Mushfiqur Rahim (11) misjudged an inswinger from Jasprit Bumrah, leaving his stumps exposed.
India’s sharp fielding resulted in two more wickets. Litton Das (13), who hit Bumrah for three boundaries in an over, was dismissed by a spectacular one-handed catch from Rohit Sharma at mid-off, after charging Mohammed Siraj. Siraj also dismissed Shakib Al Hasan (9), taking a tumbling catch while running backwards after Shakib advanced down the track against Ravichandran Ashwin.
Mominul, meanwhile, weathered some tough moments but secured his 13th Test century with a swept boundary off Ashwin. He was initially ruled out on a catch at square leg, but the decision was overturned on review, revealing the ball had hit his thigh guard.
Mominul had another scare on 95 when he edged Siraj, but Virat Kohli, diving to his left at first slip, couldn’t hold on to the catch. India currently lead the two-match series 1-0, having won the first Test in Chennai convincingly.
