Dulip samaraweera banned for 20 years from australian cricket roles for misconduct.

Former Sri Lankan test cricketer Dulip Samaraweera has been issued a 20-year ban from all cricket roles in Australia due to “inappropriate behaviour” towards a female player, Cricket Victoria (CV) confirmed on Thursday. Samaraweera, 52, who coached women’s teams in Victoria, including the Melbourne Stars WBBL team, was not available for comment.

Cricket Australia’s Conduct Commission determined that Samaraweera had breached its code of conduct, leading to his ban from holding any positions within Cricket Australia or related associations.

Cricket Victoria supported the ruling, with CEO Nick Cummins condemning Samaraweera’s actions as a betrayal of the organization’s values. He also commended the victim for her courage in coming forward and assured that CV would continue to provide her with support both on and off the field.
