A remarkable bowling performance powered the Stallions to a commanding 174-run victory over the Dolphins in the seventh match of the Champions One-Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. Chasing a target of 272, the Dolphins collapsed for just 90 runs in 25 overs as Jahandad Khan and Mehran Mumtaz claimed three wickets each, while Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf took two apiece, dismantling the opposition’s batting lineup.
Sahibzada Farhan top-scored for the Dolphins with 32 runs, while Asif Ali contributed 21, but the rest of the batting order struggled to withstand the Stallions’ aggressive bowling.
Earlier, an unbeaten century by Babar Azam (104 off 100 balls) set the tone for the Stallions, who posted 272 after opting to bat. Shan Masood (34) and Yasir Khan (46) put together a 76-run opening stand, followed by a 57-run partnership between Babar and Tayyab Tahir before Qasim Akram broke through. Hussain Talat chipped in with 23 runs.
In other tournament news, a day prior, Markhors secured their third consecutive win, beating the Dolphins by 92 runs, thanks to a century from Kamran Ghulam and all-round contributions by Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan. The Markhors now top the points table, while the Dolphins remain winless after two games.
