Kamala Harris’ election campaign spent almost three times more than her rival Donald Trump’s in August, leveraging her financial advantage ahead of the November 5th presidential election, according to recent financial disclosures.
Harris, who launched her campaign in July after President Joe Biden endorsed her, reported $174 million in spending for the month. In contrast, Trump’s campaign disclosed expenditures of $61 million. Despite this financial edge, Harris remains locked in a close race with Trump, particularly in key battleground states.
Both candidates allocated most of their spending to advertising, with additional funds going toward rallies, travel, and staff salaries. Harris’ campaign also made a $75,000 donation to the Detroit Unity Fund, aimed at increasing Black voter turnout in Michigan.
At the end of August, Harris’ campaign had $235 million in hand, while Trump’s balance stood at $135 million. Harris raised $190 million in August, compared to Trump’s $45 million.
