Karachi police constable suspended for irresponsible tiktok video.

A woman police constable in Karachi has been suspended after posting a controversial TikTok video, where she invited viewers to meet her at a location where she and her colleagues were on duty. Senior police officials took immediate action, citing the video as “irresponsible.”

Maria Gill, a constable at Gizri police station, shared the video on TikTok, showing herself and fellow officers stationed at a bus stand. In the video, she can be heard saying, “Hello guys … So, today I’m deputed at Mai Kolachi Road, near Bahria College,” while panning the camera to show her colleagues in the background. She further added, “As you can see, the entire team is present here, and that’s my bike parked over there. If anyone wants to meet me, they can come here.”

The video led to her suspension, with Syed Asad Raza, Deputy Inspector General of Police for South Karachi, emphasizing that government employees must maintain “discretion and moderation” in their use of social media and adhere to “high standards of propriety.” Raza pointed out that Gill’s actions also compromised the privacy and safety of her colleagues.

Gill has been issued a notice to explain her actions and will remain suspended while disciplinary proceedings are underway. Raza reiterated that the police force is a professional institution, and such irresponsible behavior cannot be tolerated.
