In a recent informal discussion with journalists, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan urged for the trial of retired Gen Faiz Hameed to be held in an open court. Khan emphasized that the matter between him and Gen Faiz was not an internal military issue. He argued that, as a former civilian prime minister, having his case heard in a military court would tarnish Pakistan’s reputation.
Khan asserted that after Gen Faiz’s retirement, he no longer held significance and questioned the advantage of maintaining any connection with him, noting that Faiz was no longer viewed as a hero post-retirement. He also stated that if Gen Faiz was indeed involved in the alleged conspiracy surrounding the events of May 9, an open trial was essential. Khan further alleged that the order for his abduction on May 9 originated from the highest military authority, adding that the incident was a local issue rather than one of national security.
