Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova and British number two Cameron Norrie have both withdrawn from the U.S. Open, the USTA announced on Friday. Both players are recovering from injuries that also kept them out of the Paris Olympics.
Vondrousova, who had to withdraw from the Olympics due to a hand injury, is focusing on recovery to be ready for the U.S. Open, which begins on August 26 in New York.
Norrie, who missed the Olympics because of a forearm injury, had reached the fourth round of the U.S. Open in 2022. He announced his withdrawal on Instagram, stating, “I’ll take some rest and recharge. Can’t wait to get back competing like a dog.”
