Awami Muslim League chairman and former federal minister Sheikh Rashid expressed grave concerns about the current political landscape of the country on Thursday, describing it as heading towards destruction.
Speaking to the media after his court appearance, Rashid highlighted the public’s growing discontent due to inflated electricity bills and rampant inflation, which he attributed to the government’s mismanagement. He emphasized that these issues have driven people to protest, blaming the government for the turmoil.
Rashid also accused the government of politically victimizing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by denying it its electoral symbol and hinted at attempts to ban the party altogether. Despite these challenges, he believed the PTI would endure, but the government would ultimately face repercussions.
He criticized the government’s actions, suggesting they would inadvertently benefit PTI founder Imran Khan. Rashid warned that the political situation would become clearer by August 31.
Additionally, Rashid addressed the controversy surrounding his property, Lal Haveli. He asserted that the property is approximately three marlas in size and his personal asset. He claimed that he is being unjustly evicted, with 19 houses being constructed on the site, and noted that Lal Haveli had been unsealed twice following orders from the Lahore High Court.
