The government is set to propose an increase in sales tax on most basic necessities, including sugar and ghee.
The prices of ghee and sugar are expected to rise following the imposition of an additional 1% sales tax. Other items likely to become more expensive due to this increase include tea, coffee, noodles, pasta, and children’s snacks such as jam, jelly, and marmalade.
Additionally, the cost of clothes, leather goods, paper napkins, baby diapers, utensils, and watches will also rise as a result of the new sales tax.
