The committee, comprising key figures such as Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Dr. Qaiser Bangali, Dr. Farrukh Saleem, and Muhammad Naveed Iftikhar, presented its findings during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sharif in Islamabad today.
The recommendations encompass various measures, including the closure, merger, or transfer of certain government departments to provincial jurisdictions. Additionally, the committee proposed short and medium-term strategies, such as implementing a contributory pension system for newly-appointed employees and eliminating long-standing vacancies.
To optimize service delivery and minimize costs, the committee suggested engaging the private sector in government operations and discouraging unnecessary travel by promoting teleconferencing. Furthermore, it advocated for the withdrawal of official vehicles from officers availing monetization facilities.
