Under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, the Election Commission of Pakistan bench has granted approval for the transfer of the tribunal judge overseeing reviews in three constituencies in Islamabad.
Following a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League leaders, the Commission has decided to transfer the cases of Anjum Aqeel, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Khurram Nawaz to another tribunal. A detailed judgment regarding this decision will soon be available on the Election Commission’s website.
The move comes in response to complaints of electoral irregularities lodged by opposition candidates against the Muslim League-N candidates who emerged victorious in the three Islamabad seats during the general elections held on February 8, 2024.
The decision, which was reserved last Friday, follows a thorough hearing conducted by a three-member panel, chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner.
