In a bid to enhance healthcare accessibility and provide vital medical services to remote areas, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz unveiled the Clinics on Wells project during a ceremonial event. Addressing attendees at the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Nawaz emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that essential medical facilities are readily available to all citizens.
Highlighting the key features of the Clinics on Wells initiative, Chief Minister Nawaz outlined plans to establish 200 mobile medical units at strategic locations across the province. These innovative mobile clinics are equipped with all the necessary medical amenities, including diagnostic facilities, to address the healthcare needs of underserved communities.
Of the 200 mobile units, Chief Minister Nawaz revealed that 50 vehicles will be outfitted with ultrasound equipment, enabling comprehensive diagnostic evaluations on-site. Each Clinics-on-Wheels unit will be staffed by qualified medical professionals, including doctors and paramedics, to administer tests, provide treatment, and offer vital healthcare services to patients.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Nawaz underscored the importance of prioritizing maternal and child health within the Clinics on Wells project, ensuring that specialized services are available to support the healthcare needs of women and young children. The mobile units will offer screening and vaccination facilities, safeguarding the health and well-being of vulnerable populations.
Chief Minister Nawaz also emphasized the project’s focus on leveraging local medical talent, stating that doctors from the 36 districts of Punjab will play a central role in delivering healthcare services through the Clinics on Wells initiative. By engaging local healthcare professionals, the project aims to strengthen community engagement and foster a sense of ownership among residents.
The Clinics on Wells project represents a revival of a healthcare initiative initially spearheaded by former Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Chief Minister Nawaz acknowledged the legacy of her predecessor and affirmed her government’s commitment to reinvigorating and expanding upon existing healthcare projects to better serve the needs of the population.
In addition to the Clinics on Wells project, Chief Minister Nawaz highlighted efforts to modernize healthcare infrastructure and expand access to specialized medical services across Punjab. Notably, plans are underway to introduce state-of-the-art cardiology facilities in eight districts of the province, marking a significant step forward in advancing healthcare delivery and addressing critical medical needs.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key government officials, including Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir, as well as Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort and commitment of the government to prioritize healthcare initiatives and improve health outcomes for all citizens.
