Rawalpindi: As Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, authorities in Murree have implemented a comprehensive traffic plan to manage the influx of visitors and ensure smooth traffic flow around GPO Chowk. The plan includes designated timings for new parking areas and heavy vehicles, aiming to alleviate congestion and enhance safety during the festive period.
Under the traffic plan, motorcycles are prohibited from entering Murree beyond a specified point, contributing to better traffic management and pedestrian safety. Additionally, specific timings have been established for new parking and heavy vehicles in the vicinity of GPO Chowk, optimizing available space and minimizing disruptions.
Commissioner Rawalpindi has emphasized the importance of efficient traffic management, particularly for travelers heading towards Kashmir. To facilitate smooth movement, commuters bound for Kashmir will be directed to use the expressway, with dedicated focal persons available round the clock to assist tourists and provide guidance as needed.
In line with efforts to prioritize the convenience of both locals and tourists, various facilitation centers have been activated at strategic locations such as 17 Mile, Lower Topa, Jhika Gali, Kaldna, Kashmir Chowk, and GP Chowk. These centers will serve as information hubs, offering weather updates and other essential services to ensure a pleasant experience for visitors.
To address potential shortages and ensure the well-being of residents and tourists alike, Commissioner Rawalpindi has directed authorities to double the stock of essential supplies, including rations and petrol, in Murree. Additionally, measures have been put in place to guarantee the availability of medicines and laboratory services at THQ Hospital Murree, enhancing healthcare accessibility for all.
Furthermore, stringent measures will be enforced to prevent hotels from overcharging tourists, with the implementation of legal sanctions for establishments found guilty of excessive pricing. This initiative aims to protect visitors from exploitation and promote fair and transparent business practices within the hospitality sector.
The implementation of a comprehensive traffic plan and proactive measures by Commissioner Rawalpindi underscore the authorities’ commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in Murree. By prioritizing traffic management, facilitating information dissemination, and safeguarding the interests of residents and tourists, these efforts aim to enhance the overall experience for all stakeholders during the festive season.
