In a tragic incident in Northeast Balochistan, torrential rains led to the collapse of a house roof in Daki district, resulting in the loss of lives of several individuals.
Police officials reported that the house, constructed to accommodate workers near a local coal mine, succumbed to the heavy downpour, burying five workers under the debris, tragically leading to their demise.
Among the victims were identified as laborers named Inayatullah, Ibrahim, Wali Muhammad, Zafarullah, and Sadruddin, all of whom tragically lost their lives due to the roof collapse.
Following the devastating incident, authorities swiftly moved to transport the bodies of the deceased to the hospital for necessary procedures before being repatriated to their respective hometowns for final rites and burials.
The heart-wrenching loss affected families from various regions, with three of the deceased miners hailing from Musa Khel, one from Zhob, and another from Muslim Bagh, highlighting the widespread impact of the tragedy on communities across Balochistan.
Moreover, the aftermath of the heavy rains also wreaked havoc on infrastructure, with several key highways experiencing severe damage. In Harnai, flood lanes washed away sections of the highway connecting Punjab, disrupting transportation routes and posing significant challenges for travelers.
Similarly, Kozhak Top witnessed disruptions as flood relays inundated sections of the highway, further complicating travel conditions. Additionally, landslides in Dhanasar forced the closure of the national highway, exacerbating the logistical challenges posed by the inclement weather conditions.
The series of unfortunate events underscores the vulnerability of communities in Balochistan to natural disasters and the urgent need for robust infrastructure and disaster preparedness measures to mitigate the impact of such incidents.
As rescue and relief efforts continue in the affected areas, authorities are urged to prioritize the safety and well-being of residents and expedite measures to restore essential services and infrastructure. The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the importance of proactive measures to safeguard lives and property against the unpredictable forces of nature in Balochistan and beyond.
