Moin Khan Advocates for Fitness Standards in PCB and Critiques Captaincy Decisions

Former Pakistan cricket team captain and wicketkeeper Moin Khan has stated that he will not accept any position in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as long as Azam Khan is playing. He emphasized the importance of Azam Khan reducing his weight and voiced his concerns about the fitness standards of players in the team.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Moin Khan expressed his views on Shahid Afridi’s captaincy, suggesting that Afridi has only led the team in one series so far, and it would not be appropriate to reclaim the captaincy so soon. He stressed the significance of a player’s form and fitness, highlighting the potential inclusion of Imad Wasim if he is in good form.

Moin Khan emphasized the need for domestic coaching for the Pakistan team, urging PCB to focus on the development of local coaches. He suggested that if Pakistani cricketers are not suitable for coaching, PCB should initiate a coaching development program.

The former captain also questioned why Amir had retired and suggested that if he wants to continue playing, he should reconsider his retirement decision.

Moin Khan further stated that he has requested the PCB chairman to review the conditions of the Ramadan tournament.

Moin Khan’s statements reflect a concern for the fitness and performance standards of the Pakistan cricket team. He believes that players should meet certain fitness criteria to maintain their position in the team and that decisions regarding captaincy should be made considering factors such as form and experience. Additionally, he emphasizes the importance of investing in local coaching talent to groom future cricketing prospects and improve the overall standard of cricket in Pakistan.
