In a significant development, the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has joined forces with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in formally announcing their joint boycott of the presidential election slated for today (Saturday), as reported by Dunya News.
Conducting a press conference in Karachi, GDA leader Pir Sadaruddin Shah Rashdi not only declared the boycott but also voiced support for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), citing their protest against perceived irregularities in the electoral process.
Earlier attempts by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to secure collaboration from Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s JUI-F in the presidential election proved unsuccessful. Fazlur Rehman conveyed to the PPP delegation that his party would refrain from casting votes for any candidate in the imminent election.
Emphasizing the steadfastness of the party’s decision, Maulana Fazlur Rahman stated during discussions with the delegation that the JUI-F would adhere to the resolution of not participating in the presidential election, solidifying their collective stance.
