Legal challenges mount as PTI’s intra-party elections face scrutiny at the election commission.

The legitimacy of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) intra-party elections is under scrutiny as two separate petitions have been lodged with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Filed by Mahmood Khan and Muhammad Mazamil, these petitions call for a halt to the use of PTI’s platform in the ongoing intra-party elections.

Akbar S Babar, addressing the media, disclosed the submission of a plea seeking to declare PTI’s intra-party elections null and void. Alleging the undue influence of a specific group within the party, he distanced himself from the election process.

Highlighting a previous landmark decision by the Supreme Court on intra-party elections, Akbar S Babar emphasized the commitment to avoiding past mistakes. He asserted that PTI workers have the fundamental right to choose their leadership and expressed the intention not to compromise on this principle.

Referring to a press conference held on February 2, Babar advocated for reconciliation and stressed the importance of mutual understanding in resolving all internal matters within PTI.
