FC Cincinnati has successfully acquired U.S. men’s national team defender DeAndre Yedlin from Inter Miami, as confirmed by both clubs on Monday. In exchange for the 30-year-old right back, Inter Miami received $172,799 in 2024 general allocation money. This move provides salary relief for Inter Miami, which has recently added high-profile players such as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
FC Cincinnati’s general manager, Chris Albright, expressed excitement about welcoming Yedlin and his family to the team. Yedlin, known for his leadership both on and off the field, is expected to bring valuable experience and quality to the Cincinnati squad. The club is confident that he will be an excellent fit for the team.
Yedlin’s cap hit was reportedly $683,000, making the trade beneficial for Inter Miami in terms of financial flexibility. The club acknowledged Yedlin’s contributions as a leader and expressed gratitude for his role in helping Inter Miami secure its first trophy. The trade provides Inter Miami with the flexibility to continue building its roster, and the club remains ambitious in its pursuit of titles.
DeAndre Yedlin boasts a career in MLS with one goal and 15 assists in 121 games, playing for the Seattle Sounders (2013-14) and Inter Miami (2022-24). His experience extends to the English Premier League, where he played for Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland (on loan), and Newcastle United, along with a stint at Turkish giant Galatasaray.
