Security Provided to Prime Minister-Elect Shahbaz Sharif Ahead of Speaker’s Election

Security arrangements have been provided to Shahbaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), in anticipation of his potential election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. This development comes ahead of the crucial session of the National Assembly scheduled for today, where the new Speaker of the House and the country’s new Prime Minister will be elected.

Shahbaz Sharif, along with candidates from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and allied parties, is among the hopefuls who have garnered support from 200 members of the National Assembly. His main rival is Omar Ayub Khan from the Sunni Ittehad Council, who has secured the backing of 91 members. The election of the Speaker requires the support of at least 169 members of the assembly.

Ahead of the Speaker’s election, Shahbaz Sharif, Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Khurshid Shah, Khawaja Asif, Nawaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz, and other members of the National Assembly have arrived at the Parliament House to participate in the session.

According to reports, security measures were put in place for Shahbaz Sharif even before the Speaker’s election. He arrived at the Parliament House under tight security, where he hosted a breakfast in honor of members of allied parties and also delivered a speech.

The provision of security to Shahbaz Sharif underscores the significance of the political developments unfolding in Pakistan, as the country prepares for a new Prime Minister and a renewed parliamentary session. The presence of key political figures at the Parliament House highlights the intensity and anticipation surrounding the election process and the formation of the new government.
