Sri Lanka cricket announces squad for Bangladesh T20I tour.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has unveiled its 17-member squad for the upcoming T20I leg of the Bangladesh tour.

Charith Asalanka will take charge of the team for the first two T20Is as Wanindu Hasaranga, the regular captain, will be serving a two-match suspension for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.

Hasaranga incurred three demerit points and a 50 per cent match fee fine during the T20I series against Afghanistan. The incident occurred during the third T20I against Afghanistan in Dambulla, where Hasaranga expressed discontent with a decision regarding a high full toss not being called a no-ball to umpire Lyndon Hanibal.

Furthermore, opener Pathum Nissanka, initially part of the squad, will miss the Bangladesh tour due to an injury sustained during the Afghanistan series. Avishka Fernando will step in as his replacement.

The squad comprises a mix of experienced players including Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, and Kusal Janith Perera, alongside promising talents like Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana.

The full squad includes: Wanindu Hasaranga (c), Charith Asalanka (vc), Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Janith Perera, Dilshan Madushanka, Nuwan Thushara, Matheesha Pathirana, Akila Dananjaya, Binura Fernando, Kamindu Mendis, Avishka Fernando, and Jeffrey Vandersay.
