Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz underscored the importance of transparency in financial matters during her inaugural visit to the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday. Leading a meeting, she received briefings from Chief Secretary Zahid Zaman Akhtar, planning and development chairman, as well as finance and health secretaries regarding the functioning and plans of various departments.
Maryam committed to upholding meritocracy and preventing any compromise on transparency. She assured a complete absence of political appointments, emphasizing accountability, transparency, quality work, and meeting deadlines as non-negotiable principles. She expressed respect for those who deliver results and urged swift structural reforms to address people’s problems.
During the meeting, Maryam encouraged civil servants, considering them integral to her team, and pledged full support to those fulfilling their duties. She welcomed productive suggestions aimed at serving the masses and directed a focus on urgent problem-solving, particularly in dengue and polio prevention. Maryam stressed the importance of providing quality healthcare to the public and emphasized the continuity of people-oriented projects in various sectors.
Additionally, the chief minister addressed traffic management concerns during her commute, expressing displeasure over disruptions caused by her convoy. She urged authorities to improve traffic management to ensure minimal inconvenience for the public.
