Mian Aslam Iqbal, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has issued a stern warning to the opposition, particularly the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), cautioning them against attempting to coerce PTI members into joining their ranks under threat of legal repercussions.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Mian Aslam Iqbal condemned what he described as attempts by the opposition to instigate a campaign of intimidation and legal harassment against PTI members. He asserted that such tactics would not deter him or his party from pursuing their political goals.
Iqbal highlighted instances where he had been targeted unfairly, citing fabricated legal cases and personal attacks as evidence of the opposition’s desperation. He claimed that while he was busy with preparations for his daughter’s wedding, false accusations were being leveled against him in an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
Furthermore, Mian Aslam Iqbal challenged the opposition to produce any evidence of wrongdoing on his part, urging them to bring forth any CCTV footage or other evidence they claim to possess. He emphasized that throughout his political career, he has always conducted himself with integrity and would not allow baseless accusations to tarnish his image.
Addressing the broader political landscape, Mian Aslam Iqbal reaffirmed the PTI’s commitment to upholding the mandate given to them by the people of Pakistan. He criticized the opposition parties, particularly the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), for their alleged mismanagement and corruption, accusing them of bringing ruin to every institution they have governed.
Moreover, he condemned what he described as a hypocritical alliance between certain opposition parties, highlighting instances where erstwhile adversaries had come together to pursue their own interests at the expense of the Pakistani people. He warned against undermining the sanctity of the electoral process, stressing the importance of respecting the will of the electorate.
In light of recent legal proceedings against him, Mian Aslam Iqbal expressed confidence in the judicial system and reiterated his commitment to appearing before the Lahore High Court as required. He emphasized the need for due process and urged the authorities not to arrest him before his scheduled appearance in court.
In response to his lawyer’s request for bail, the Peshawar High Court granted Mian Aslam Iqbal bail until March 4th, allowing him time to appear before the Lahore High Court. The court’s order directed him to present himself before the relevant courts and police station by the specified date, with the understanding that failure to do so would result in the revocation of bail. Copies of the court’s order were dispatched to the relevant judicial authorities and police station for compliance.
