PCB Terminates Haris Rauf’s Central Contract for Refusal to Join Test Squad

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to terminate the central contract of fast bowler Haris Rauf due to his refusal to join Pakistan’s Test squad for the tour of Australia 2023-24.

Following a thorough hearing process conducted by a PCB committee and considering the perspectives of all stakeholders involved, Haris’ central contract has been revoked effective from December 1, 2023. Additionally, the PCB has decided not to grant him any No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in any foreign league until June 30, 2024.

Haris was given the opportunity for a personal hearing by the PCB management in line with the principles of natural justice on January 30, 2024. However, his response during the hearing was deemed unsatisfactory.

The PCB emphasizes that representing Pakistan is the highest honor and privilege for any athlete. Therefore, Haris’ refusal to be part of Pakistan’s Test squad without providing a medical report or a justifiable reason constitutes a significant violation of his central contract.
