Government greenlights Rs7.5 billion ramadan relief package; utility stores corporation takes action.

The federal government has officially sanctioned a Ramadan relief package amounting to Rs7.5 billion. In response, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has initiated preparations to implement the relief measures.

Under the approved plan, approximately 19 essential food items will receive subsidies. These items include flour, ghee, sugar, cooking oil, rice, pulses, dates, gram flour, milk, beverages, and spices.

The beneficiaries of the Ramadan package will primarily be families registered with the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) who have a poverty index score of PTM-60 or less.

The USC spokesperson noted that individuals not currently registered with BISP have been instructed to reach out to their nearby BISP office for registration. Additionally, provisions will be made for general stores to serve the broader public during this period, the spokesperson concluded.
